Who are you and what is your artist name?
I’m a French dj and producer living in France. My artist Name is Marc Troy and my real name Maxime.

      What’s your background?
I started Djing at 15 in by bedroom, and producing when I was 18. I then became a local dj for multiple events in my hometown and enjoyed playing alongside pretty big names in the electronic music scene. As a producer I had about 15 releases in the last years.

How has your practice change over time?
I try to produce everyday as much as possible, I went through a few years of no producing at all until I found back the inspiration and changed the way I see myself as a producer.

What music genre do you most identify with?
Honestly I don’t listen some electronic music so much during day time, I’m more into soul, jazz, 60’s RNB, blues, lot of thing that comes with a soul. This habits makes me always looking for blending genres when I’m producing. As a dj it obviously depends on the place I’m playing. I can enjoy playing deep house and downtempo in a garden daytime party as much as a melodic techno opening set or dance floor techno as a closing set.

      What themes do you pursue?
Delivering one idea by track, one clear direction to the listener to focus on.

      What’s your scariest experience?
As an artist I’d say maybe closing the party after Etienne de Crecy was pretty intense for my feelings.

      What’s your favourite art work?
Also very various kind of arts, from amazing architecture to ancient painting, great singers that can make you cry. I’d say as long as it makes me feel something I can like any form or art.

Describe a real-life situation that inspired you?
I’ll remember all my life entering the Saint Peter’s basilica in Vatican in Rome and being chocked by the work done there. This place blends history and art so much it blown me away that people created a place like that.

      What’s your most embarrassing moment?
Pressing cue to the wrong deck, but we all went through it already

What jobs have you done other than being an artist?
I’m currently working for the amazing Thomann company and I have the chance to help people with the knowledge I gain throughout the years.

      Why music?
My granddad and my dad were also big tortured music lovers, so I guess it just flows in my DNA somewhere. There’s nothing that can make me feel more feelings than music.

What memorable responses have you had to your work?
Giving goosebumps to people, once again it’s all about give them intense feelings.

What food, drink, song inspires you?
Mediterranean food is my favorite, I like very expensive white wine so I usually drink beer, then listen to some old records to connect with my soul.

What do you like about your work?
      The storytelling I can provide.

      What makes you angry?
People who get angry for no reason.

What superpower would you have and why?
Being kind to everyone. People I hate are very few.

Name something you love, and why.
Listening music at night for hours, being in connection with my feelings while I’m working on a project, taking the time to try a lot of things and finally finding the solution you’re 100% sure is the right one.

Name something you hate, and why.
Anxiety because it ruins everything. No matter the hard work you did or the quality you know you got, you need to be brave to show this to the world, and this can change careers direction.

      What is your dream project?
Working on an album with musicians and singers, locked in the studio for fall/winter season in a big cosy place near the forest.

Name three artists that inspires you
I got favourite artists in multiple genres, but in the electronic music scene now it may be Monolink, &me and all Keinemusic crew, also techno artists like Unknown Project from Australia, amazing groove and synth textures.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Be yourself, don’t be afraid to listen to your taste.

      Professionally, what’s your goal?
I found the good place where I am right now. I also enjoyed a lot having my own bar few years ago, promoting other musicians, make people feel home was incredibly satisfying. Maybe one day I’ll try again with another project.

      What wouldn’t you do without?
I wouldn’t be the same person without music. The fire burns down in my soul.
