DEHN

Who are you ?
I’m Michael, born in 1975, father of 4 and married since 2008.

What’s your background?
I’m not educated in anything, everything in my life is just “learn by doing”.
It’s a blessing and a curse. But for as long as I remember, music has been my passion.

Explain what you do in 100 words
After I closed a company that made living green walls with IoT sensors. It was 4 years of insane hard work, and in the end I lost my passion for it.
I’m driven by creativity, so I just follow my own flow, and try not to get to distracted by “normal” life. So yeah I’m just following my dreams
So now everything is focused around music

How has your practice change over time?
Not much has changed, the software just got better and I’m trying to keep up with that, but my way of making music hasn’t changed.

What music genre do you most identify with?
Thrash/Death Metal & Oldschool Progressive Psy. It’s the energy from these genres that I try to use in my Techno project DEHN.

What themes do you pursue?
Darkness

What’s your scariest experience?
I still need to experience it.

What’s your favourite art work?
I don’t have a favourite, but I do love Hr. Giger

Describe a real-life situation that inspired you?
It happens every time I’m standing on a stage playing my music, it renews my energy and that turns into inspiration

What’s your most embarrassing moment?
Taking LSD and going on stage to play live, that was insane and I never got to play hahaha.

What jobs have you done other than being an artist?
I have managed a Castle together with my wife. We did everything from running a Hotel, and having a Restaurant on it.
Then for the last 4 years I have made different companies, and now I’m trying to launch We Talk Music Online, since it’s one of my dreams.

Why music?
Because I got a constant beat going on in my head, so why not create and share it.

What memorable responses have you had to your work?
There’s been a lot over the years, but I love all the responses I get from people on the floor.

What food, drink, song inspires you?
Food and drinks doesn’t really inspire me, but Slayer is musically one of the most important inspirations.

What do you like about your work?
The Creativity, there is nothing like creating something from scratch and evolve it into a track

What makes you angry?
Stubbornly Stupid people.

What superpower would you have and why?
To stay awake and play for 7 days.

Name something you love, and why.
My Cats. They eat, sleep and get attention whenever they want it. In my opinion, they know what life is all about

Name something you don’t love, and why.
Humans. and why? Humans

What is your dream project?
My labels & We Talk Music Online, so guess im working on my dreams

Name three artists that inspires you.
Well this is a hard one, but Slayer and Depeche Mode have been a great inspiration since the mid 80’s.
And then all the Thorium Artist’s, if you get signed by us, you have inspired me.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
“We’re here to put a dent in the universe.”

Professionally, what’s your goal?
To keep on getting better at what I do.

What wouldn’t you do without?
My family and Music

Bio: Behind DEHN is Michael Klit. He started playing some vinyl around 98-99, but he quickly began producing his own music under the name Static Corn. In the summer of 99 he began to make underground raves under the name of GerningsStedet. The parties were held under parking lots, on abandoned farms, and in old factory halls, he also played at the parties as dj where his style was minimal / pro-aggressive Psy from the Danish underground scene. He later was downbeat dj at the venue Bryggen for several years. Over the past couple of years, his interest in Dark and Minimal Techno has grown, and he decided at the end of 2017 that he wanted to give the DJ career a try, and at the same time start producing more low bpm music. It’s the experience from the downbeat and Pro-agressive Psy he uses in the Techno genre.
